About the role: As a SEN Teaching Assistant specialising in SEMH, you will be working closely with children who face challenges related to social, emotional, and mental health. Your role will be to provide dedicated support, helping these students to navigate their learning journey while developing confidence and resilience. The role will span both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, offering a dynamic and varied workday. You will collaborate closely with teachers and the school’s SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to implement tailored strategies and interventions that meet the specific needs of each child. Application Requirements: • Experience working with children who have SEMH needs. • A compassionate and patient approach, with the ability to build strong relationships with students. • An understanding of de-escalation techniques and behavior management strategies. • A proactive, positive, and adaptable attitude in a fast-paced environment. • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff and parents. Key Responsibilities: • Provide 1:1 and group support to students with SEMH needs, helping them engage with learning in a positive and productive way. • Assist teachers in creating an inclusive classroom environment, ensuring all pupils feel supported. • Implement and monitor individual education plans (IEPs), ensuring that SEMH students are receiving the right level of support. • Use de-escalation techniques and positive behavior strategies to support students in managing emotional challenges. • Work closely with the wider school team, including teachers, parents, and external professionals, to provide holistic support for each child.
