SAAF Education are working with a wonderful Trust who have set up a PRU to work with students who need more 1-1 support and a unique way of teaching and support over 6 weeks to get them back into mainstream education. The Role: We are looking for a compassionate and motivated Behavior Mentor / Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with students, offering tailored behavior and learning support to help them overcome challenges and achieve their potential. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for helping young people, particularly those with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. Key Responsibilities: * Provide 1:1 and small group support to students, focusing on behavior management, emotional regulation, and academic progress. * Implement strategies to engage students in their learning and encourage positive behavior in line with the school's behavior policies. * Assist teachers with the planning and delivery of lessons, providing support to ensure students remain focused and on task. * Build positive and trusting relationships with students, acting as a role model and mentor. * Support students in developing social skills, resilience, and strategies to manage their emotions. * Work collaboratively with the wider school team, including SENCOs, teachers, and external professionals, to create and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behavior plans. * Monitor and record student progress, reporting to staff and parents as needed. * Help to create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment where all students feel supported. The Ideal Candidate Will Have: * Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally in a PRU, mainstream school, or similar setting. * Experience supporting children with SEMH needs and managing challenging behavior. * Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff. * A patient, calm, and empathetic approach, with excellent behavior management skills. * The ability to remain flexible and adapt to the individual needs of students. * A commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment. * An understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies.
