Carers Trust is the largest network of organisations across the UK that specialises in the support and wellbeing of unpaid carers. Together we reach more than a million unpaid carers every year.

Our shared vision is that all unpaid carers are heard, valued and have access to the support, advice and resources they need to live a fulfilling life alongside caring.

The growing number of unpaid carers and sustainability challenges facing the organisations that support them is a significant challenge. With the economic contribution of unpaid carers in Wales consistently reaching over £8.1bn each year, it is clear that the health and social care system is founded on the contribution of more than 310,000 unpaid carers across Wales. This important contribution must not come at the expense of the health, wellbeing and financial resilience of unpaid carers.

To help us achieve our ambitions in Wales we are supported by a dynamic Wales Advisory Board. The Board is Chaired by Professor Mark Llewellyn, Director of the Welsh Institute for Health and Social Care, and Professor of Health and Care Policy at the University of South Wales, who is also a trustee of Carers Trust.

What are we looking for?

We are seeking 2 new members who would like to support our work delivering positive change for unpaid carers across Wales and who have the skills and experience to support us to deliver our objectives. This is a fantastic opportunity to support an expert and ambitious charity to grow and develop and to collaborate with colleagues across Wales. Advisory Board members will receive an induction and ongoing support in their role.

We are particularly looking for knowledge, skills and experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Supporting unpaid carers to have their voices heard
  • Supporting sustainability in the Third Sector in Wales
  • Supporting equity, diversity and inclusion across the Third Sector in Wales
  • National Health Service/Public Health in Wales

Members are initially asked to join for three years. We expect that the commitment will be around 2 - 3 hours per month plus quarterly meetings (held in locations across Wales). Meetings will be both face-to-face and online, travel expenses will be covered by Carers Trust.

What is the recruitment process?

Applicants are asked to send an up-to-date CV alongside a short application form explaining why you want to support Carers Trust Wales and how you could help contribute to our work in future. Following this, the shortlisted applicants will meet with the Director and Chair for a discussion about the role before appointments are made.

Applicants interested in the post are asked to return their application form accompanied by a CV to .

Closing date for expressions of interest is Midday on 25 November 2024.
