BT's Networks team is looking for a Technical Delivery Manager to deliver a complex project of physical infrastructure and virtual environments, embracing and applying agile methodologies. You will need to manage multiple workstreams and stakeholders while working in an agile way.
The TDM needs to have a holistic view of each project’s deliverables, agile-squads, stakeholders & financials.
This is a new exciting area with many challenges, as the technology and tools are ever changing. The candidate needs to be pro-active, flexible and have a positive attitude, and will be given peer & line support, coaching and weekly opportunities to learn.
The team is made up of network & software engineers, focusing on developments in network activation, virtualisation, and cloud. This is collaborative and transformational work, and the team is driving new behaviours and cultures for a network of the future.
The purpose of the role is to deliver, and you may deliver part of a larger delivery.
Specifically this role is accountable for:
Owns and delivers change from design through to live implementation and/or withdrawal.
Designs and drives improved working process for efficient live deployment.
Owns the network delivery of portfolio/release from the concept to market (agile)
Deliver requirements by ensuring production of a robust and achievable design and delivery plans.
Owns the closure of legacy networks. Manages delivery change control at work stream / Network delivery level and determine on acceptance or rejection of changes to an agreed scope.
Ensuring the scope of delivery is understood, including OSS where necessary, that the network solution meets the business need and that plans are comprehensive and are achieved.
Ensuring that all impacted teams understand, engage and commit to deliver plans.
Skills required for the job
Very strong communications skills, able to forge strong relationships with peer-level designers, platform managers, engineering, planning and operations managers to explain and drive technology change through the lifecycle.
Supporting senior managers and directors in Technology and the CFUs on overall change and adoption of best practice.
Ability to work with stakeholders, designers and platforms to ensure the proposed solution is affordable, deliverable and delivers the required business outcomes
Project management skills to deliver business benefit in a timely way by focusing on must do capability and delivering effective end to end solutions
Management of delivery and network change control
Risk management
Looks at ways of innovating to exceed Time Cost Quality measures / sharing best practice
Significant experience working in a software/network team and able to demonstrate that they have good understanding of (and real practical experience of) working in an Agile development
Experienced in technology delivery of large scale projects and Agile delivery practices.
Experience you would be expected to have
Knowledge of complex network delivery and authority.
Stakeholder management - working with multiple teams across the organisation
Leading matrix teams through complex change
Proven track record of delivery of multiple technically challenging network service solutions into in life
Understanding and experience of managing budgets and how to ensure supporting teams are funded within Technology.
Knowledge of agile methodologies
