CONSTRUCTION LEGAL COUNSEL

CENTRAL LONDON (4 DAYS PER WEEK IN OFFICE, 1 DAY FROM HOME)

£80,000 + PACKAGE

PERMANENT ROLE


Role Overview:


Morgan Philips Group is presently representing a British property company headquartered in London, in their search for a Construction Legal Counsel. This business has developed nearly 100 acres of property in London and has constructed more office space in the city than any other developer.


The successful candidate will support the Senior Legal Counsel – Construction on legal aspects of a broad range of construction projects, contracts and contentious matters.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Negotiating, drafting and collating construction contracts and appointments, PCSAs, and similar legal documents.
  • Reviewing, negotiating, and drafting a wide array of commercial contracts.
  • Managing the construction due diligence process in respect of financings.
  • Dealing with early stages of construction disputes.
  • Developing key internal relationships with MDs and Directors.
  • Update other internal lawyers to ensure awareness of all issues that may impact associated legal or transactional work.
  • Overseeing external counsel. Building relationships with our external law firms and other key stakeholders/shareholders.
  • Awareness and escalation of construction related risk and reputation issues across the business.
  • Provide routine documentary advice to internal stakeholders, where the advice is not being provided by external lawyers.
  • Dealing with day-to-day construction related legal issues which may arise.
  • To carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by Director – Legal Construction and Senior Legal Counsel - Construction.



About You:

  • Minimum 3 years’ PQE, ideally with construction legal experience.
  • A sound proven basis in construction law and building development projects is required.
  • Must be self-motivated and have a proactive commercial problem solving approach.
  • Must be a team player with a willingness to help others.
  • Flexible, organised and calm approach to work is essential, with the ability to work under pressure.
