Deadline for Application: 11th October 2024 Expected Start Date: January 2025 Duty Station: UK or Europe based, with flexible working arrangements Reporting To: CEO – Level Salary range: USD80 - 100k pa Job Description Level is growing, and we need a senior executive who can design and implement commercial strategies that take Level to a new Level (!). We’re looking for a strategic thinker with experience of commercial markets and corporate finance to join the Founders of the company in expanding our ambitions for growing our impact in creating new funding mechanisms for nature conservation, and to ensure that our finances are well positioned for continued success. Level is in a phase of strategic growth and exploration of commercial opportunities in the nature finance and investment space. As such the role of CSL requires someone who is highly adaptable and comfortable with uncertain outcomes and who is prepared for unexpected developments in the range and nature of opportunities available to the business over the near to mid term. This strategic growth phase involves the redefinition of the Founders’ roles and responsibilities. The CSL role will, for the foreseeable future, require the individual to work closely with the two Founders of the business and who can be both part of consolidating and expanding existing business activities while also being involved in the exploration and development of new and as yet undefined but fundamentally mission-driven new directions. The CSL will have a day-to-day, ongoing impact on company operations, helping us to analyze opportunities, develop strategies, and grow our market and financial position. This seasoned strategist not only will understand current nature market developments and trends, but also will have experience raising capital and designing financing mechanisms for new business ventures. As a member of senior management, the CSL will be comfortable in a leadership role that requires clear and effective communication skills. Objectives of this role Take responsibility (in cooperation with the CEO / Founders) for decisions around all investments, insurance, budgeting, and financial reporting, and help drive the company’s financial strategy. Develop and implement best practices and tools to ensure a well-controlled yet flexible organization that has strong fiscal management, project coordination, cross-team communications, and workflows Comply with national and local financial requirements by studying existing and new legislation and taking appropriate action. Explore and understand emerging financing mechanisms for nature markets and natural capital creation. Responsibilities Work with the CEO and senior managers to efficiently develop strategic direction of the business and implement effective commercial strategy, Research revenue opportunities and economic trends, analyze internal operations, and identify areas for cost reduction and process enhancement Perform risk management through analysis of company liabilities and investments, and evaluate and manage capital structure and fundraising initiatives Perform market analyses and develop commercial strategy to guide business growth, development or the adoption of new business strategies and operating models. Work with the CFO and the CEO to ensure financial stability of the company based on strategic goals and current business environment. Accompany the CEO and / or CIO (the Founders) when visiting field sites and potential project development areas Work with CEO / CIO (Founders) to communicate and disseminate the mission and commercial objectives of the business - inc attending and speaking at events / conferences etc… Required skills and qualifications Five or more years of experience in executive leadership roles Excellent leadership skills, with steadfast resolve and personal integrity Exceptional verbal, written, and visual communication skills Basic understanding of good accounting practice, financial regulatory issues, and tax.
