As a Robotics Systems Engineer, you will be the primary point of contact forinternal customers and partners, driving the implementation and continuousimprovement of world-class maintenance, repair, and supportability solutionsfor the Amazon Robotics portfolio of automated fulfillment and sortationsystems. You will work with cross-functional engineering and product supportteams engaged in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance processesaround maintenance and reliability of these systems. You will balance businessneeds with technical constraints, striving to find the right solution for eachcustomer while maintaining a strong focus on standards, scalability andsupportability. You will recommend alternative technical approaches, anddirect cross-functional efforts to meet aggressive timelines. You will analyzelarge-scale data from databases, PLCs, sensors, controls equipment,maintenance records, and other performance data streams to identifyimprovement opportunities around preventative maintenance, systemoptimizations, reliability metrics, and overall equipment effectiveness.Utilizing this data, you will engage customers via partner teams to understandand document business requirements, drive problems to root cause, and manageimplementation programs for corrective actions. You will apply your expertisein robotics, data systems, reliability engineering and system lifecyclemanagement to build scalable solutions that ensure optimal performance andavailability of hundreds of thousands of robotic assets across Amazon’s globalnetwork. The ability to build productive relationships with colleagues andcustomers at remote sites around the world will make you successful in thisrole, as will patience and a sense of humor. You will frequently travel tovarious facilities in North America, and Europe Key job responsibilities •Utilize data analytics, root cause analysis, design of experiments and sixsigma methods to improve reliability and availability of critical automationequipment and robotics & mechatronics systems. •Demonstrate analytical and quantitative skills: the ability to use hard dataand analysis techniques to back up assumptions and develop business cases. •Develop and deliver impactful data-driven analyses, based on equipmentfailure and downtime data to justify need for change and recommendations. •Effectively interact and collaborate with Customers, engineers, softwaredevelopment engineers other Technical Program Managers and multiple internalteams to define and deliver complex solutions. •Lead Kaizen and process improvement events, including Failure Modes andEffects Analyses (FMEA) to reduce downtime, eliminate errors and defects, andoptimize overall equipment performance. •Engage cross functional teams of maintenance technicians, engineers, productowners and leaders within RME to deliver structured problem solving. •Design, pilot and implement new preventative maintenance standards, intervaladjustments, part replacement cycles, and work instruction streamlining basedon granular analysis of reliability (MTBF, MTTR, OEE, etc.) trends acrossassets. •Develop automated reporting through advanced SQL and Quicksight to provideRME leadership with actionable insights, trends and analysis around equipmentuptime, failures, SLA performance, and other key metrics. •Drive effective teamwork, communication, collaboration and commitment acrossmultiple disparate groups with competing priorities. Lead the effective andefficient delivery of large, complex technical projects and programs •Anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and maketradeoffs, and balance business needs with technical constraints •Provides guidance to maintenance teams and field technicians on equipmentmaintenance and complex issue troubleshooting and resolution, interactingdirectly with functions like Engineering, Operations, and Facilities ontechnical matters. •This role will require the ability to travel up to 50%. If you’re passionate aboutthis role and want to make an impact on a global scale, please apply! ### BASIC QUALIFICATIONS•Bachelor’s degree in in a technical STEM or Engineering discipline(Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Computer Science, Software Systems Development), degree in Mathematics Statistics, or comparablescientific or technical degree from an accredited university. •Experience in reliability engineering, manufacturing engineering, lifecycleengineering or related role, with demonstrated specialization in robotics andmechatronics. •Industrial robotics maintenance with equivalent experience in themechanical or electrical fields •Ability to travel to various sites as needed, globally •Lean Six Sigma experience required. Demonstrated success leading Kaizenevents •Experience coding in Python, SQL, or R for purposes of data extraction,organization, visualization and statistical analysis. •Experience in some or all of the following areas: Automated conveyors systemsor controls, electrical and electronic principles, blueprint and electricalschematic reading, CMMS programs, preventive maintenance procedures,industrial electrical, industrial controls, industrial electronics, industrialPC literary, N.E.C. ### PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS•Experience in the field with Amazon Robotics equipment. •Technical understanding of: robotics system componentscontrols, HMIcomponents, control network components, motion control, and standardelectrical components •Experience with: Databases & data pipelines, SQL optimization, developmentand integration of disparate data platforms systems. •Ability to understand and develop with common modern programming languages &communication protocols: python, SQL, JSON, CURL & HTTP requests, etc. •Understand how to interact with and develop within AWS and similar platforms:AWS services, API Integrations, serverless computing, microservices •Understanding of: 480V 3-phase, 110 VAC, and 24VDC systems •Ability to interpret, modify, and develop drawings both mechanical andelectrical •Ability to identify, maintain, and utilize SCADA systems and KPIs •Understand and critically evaluate technical systems end-to-end forstrengths, weaknesses, impacts and improvements •Robust troubleshooting and data analytical skills •Ability to influence others in a technical role and interact with all levelsof management Amazon is an equal opportunities employer.
