Job Title: Safeguarding Officer Location: Leyland, Lancashire Type: Full-time, Ongoing Contract Are you passionate about ensuring the safety and well-being of young people? Do you have experience in safeguarding and a commitment to creating a safe learning environment? Join our dynamic college in Leyland as a Safeguarding Officer and play a vital role in supporting and protecting students. Key Responsibilities: - Serve as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) for the college, ensuring that all safeguarding procedures are effectively implemented. - Act as the first point of contact for safeguarding concerns, providing timely and effective support to students, staff, and external agencies. - Manage safeguarding cases, working closely with local authorities, police, and social services as needed. - Lead on the development and implementation of safeguarding policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with statutory guidelines. - Provide guidance and training to staff on safeguarding and child protection matters, creating a culture of vigilance. - Maintain accurate records of safeguarding concerns and actions taken, ensuring all documentation is up to date and confidential. - Stay informed on best practices and legislation in safeguarding, ensuring the college's procedures remain current and effective. - Contribute to the development of a positive, inclusive, and safe environment for all students. Requirements: - Experience in a safeguarding role, ideally within an education setting. - Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation and procedures, including Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE). - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle sensitive situations with care and professionalism. - Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team, showing leadership in safeguarding issues. - A commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion within the college community. - Enhanced DBS clearance. Desirable: - Level 3 or above qualification in safeguarding or child protection. - Previous experience in a college or secondary school setting. - Experience in delivering safeguarding training.
