Hours - Monday to Friday, 36.25 hours per week with flexible, hybrid working – following successful completion of probation period

About the Audit Senior role

We have an exciting opportunity for an Audit Senior in our Lewes office.
Working on a varied and good quality portfolio of audit clients, within the owner-managed corporates, not for profit and charities, the Audit Senior will work alongside Audit Managers on key and mid-tier accounts. The position will be in a client facing role, establishing strong relationships with a significant number of business owners across the region.
Key responsibilities of an Audit Senior will include:
- take a lead on the audit process from planning through to completion
- undertake non audit assignments, including accounts preparation and tax computations
- prepare a job to meaningful and realistic budgets, liaising with Manager on any issues
- demonstrate good utilisation of relevant software
- demonstrate an awareness and some understanding of the clients business and manage each job to ensure client expectations and deadlines are met
- assist in the development of others, particularly trainees through providing thoughtful feedback on jobs, offering coaching and support as necessary and supporting the Manager with useful, constructive feedback as appropriate
- sharing best practice and ideas within the team for process improvement and development of each other
- communicate verbally and in writing with clients
- effectively manages Partner and Manager expectations, communicating regularly on progress of jobs
- remain informed about legislative, technical and regulatory changes and share knowledge amongst the team
About you
We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:
- ACA / ACCA qualified
- minimum 2-3 years' experience in an Audit capacity, ideally in Practice
- good level of technical knowledge of Audit & Accounting standards
- knowledge of accounting systems and control environments within a finance function
- previous knowledge of the charities and academy sector would be advantageous
- familiar with accounting software including Sage and Xero
- previous use of CCH and Caseware would be an advantage
- strong Excel skills – including vlookup, sumif and Pivot Tables
- ability to communicate and engage with clients in a professional but personable manner
- strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- engaging communication style & active listener
Must have the ability to drive and access to own transport as travel to client sites will be necessary
