Day Rate: up to £400 (outside IR35)


We are looking for a learning designer or content creator to fulfil a short Improvements project. The role will be required to review one of our key courses in final build to apply updates from a completed UX review, SME feedback and apply CABI design guide updates ready for final sign off before launch.


You will be working closely with a CABI Learning Designer, UX designer, and Moodle Administrator to complete the enhancement backlog items for our Seed & Planting Course.

This is approximately a 3-week contract but would likely run part-time over a 6 week period from mid-October; but fairly flexible.


Would suit a junior learning designer or content creator looking to gain some great experience in improving eLearning courses for CABI on the Moodle platform.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Plan your work to fit into our 3-week or 6-week cycles to deliver specific updates to current courses.
  • Liaise and communicate with subject matter experts , learning and UX designer and Moodle administrator to understand required changes and actions.
  • Review our current Seed & Planting eLearning course in build, to update and implement UX changes, SME feedback and write effective and robust certification assessment activities.


Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year experience working as a learning designer or digital learning content creator, ideally within the following sectors: further education, higher education, international development, public sector, charities, NGO.
  • Design clear and concise activities and assessments to help people gain skills and demonstrate capabilities.
  • Work closely with subject matter experts and users to identify measurable learning objectives, design practice scenario based activities.
  • Write clearly and concisely, using a style and language appropriate to the audience.
  • Consider the whole user experience, from initial touchpoint through to the final certificate.
  • Explain and apply current theories, practices and models about how people learn.
  • Experience in using Moodle would be advantageous.
  • Ideally can read and tweak HTML and CSS within Moodle eLearning course creation.
  • Able to use Office 365 and Zoom or Teams Channels efficiently.
