This role will:

  • Enhance performance evaluation via the creation of tailored datasets, dashboard and data analytics that enable more informed resource allocation and continuous strategic and operational improvements.
  • Strengthen client relationship management (CRM) using analytics and tools that reduce time spent on searching for resources and improve overall productivity.
  • Enrich strategic decision-making capability by gathering and processing data about Intellectual Property (IP) legal markets and related fields, ensuring the firm maintains its competitive market position.


Purpose of the role


The role holder will work closely with the Head of Strategic Intelligence to gather and process information and gain expertise about the business.


The role provides support for building and protecting the firm’s data assets.


The role focuses on developing datasets and providing information that can be used as performance indicators at firm and market level as well as providing support for the development of client relationships.


The role shall consolidate and build on best practices in managing IP and business intelligence (BI).


Responsibilities


Firm performance

  • Enhance decision-making capability by ensuring accurate and high-quality data is readily available to support insights that drive the firm’s performance.
  • Strengthen data integrity by collaborating with the technology team on issue resolution strategies and safeguarding the reliability of the firm’s performance data.
  • Champion quality assurance by testing and validating data-driven changes, ensuring user acceptance testing makes a positive contribution to the firm’s performance metrics.
  • Enable strategic insights by providing support in the analysis and interpretation of information requirements to continually improve business administration.
  • Create compelling visualizations and analytics using Microsoft (MS) and other appropriate reporting software that communicate the value and impact of performance data for informed decision-making.


Client performance

  • Contribute to client success by modelling and interpreting client data, identifying and leveraging opportunities for strengthening client relationships.
  • Develop visual tools and analytics demonstrating the firm’s impact on client success, further enhancing client relationships and growth.


Market performance

  • Stimulate market expansion by identifying high-potential companies in key markets of interest, levering IP intelligence and other resources to support the firm’s growth strategies.
  • Generate business growth by collaborating with the Business Development (BD) teams to analyse and develop prospect pipelines and client workstreams, directing and contributing to market expansion efforts.
  • Lead market intelligence initiatives using specialized subscriptions to continuously monitor and assess key prospect and client activity, ensuring the firm remains competitive and well-informed.



PERSON SPECIFICATION (Skills / Experience / QUALIFICATION)


Skills

1. Data Analysis:

  • Proficiency in data querying, statistical analysis, and data modelling.
  • Ability to interpret and visualize data to provide actionable insights.


2. Technical Proficiency:

  • Expertise in BI tools especially Power BI.
  • Strong SQL skills for database querying.
  • Familiarity with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes
  • Understanding of database management systems (DBMS) such as MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, and NoSQL databases.

3. Business Analysis:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders to understand their needs and deliver relevant insights.
  • Ability to capture and synthesise relevant business information from IP and non-IP sources.

5. Problem-Solving:

Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to troubleshoot data issues and find efficient solutions.

6. Communication:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to present findings and recommendations clearly.
  • Ability to create detailed documentation and user guides.


Experience

1. Professional Experience:

Experience in a BI role or a related field such as data analysis, data science, or data engineering.

2. Industry Experience:

Experience in leading or being part of BI projects, from requirement gathering to implementation and post-implementation support.

4. Collaboration:

Experience working closely with cross-functional teams including IT, finance, marketing, and operations.


Qualifications

1. Educational Background:

A bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Data Science, Business Administration, or a related field.

2. Continuous Learning:

Commitment to ongoing education and staying updated with the latest BI tools and technologies through courses, workshops, and seminars.
