EV - Start-up (circa £100 million in funding)

Are you an aspiring mid-level or senior Electrical Systems Engineer looking for a new challenge to lead a start-up to scalable manufacturing?

Do you want your work to have a positive impact in the world?

Excited by start-up or low volume environments set for growth?

The Role

My client is looking for an experienced Electrical Systems Engineer to join the team as they move from prototype and development to production.

The EV vehicles they are building are being built for on-and off road performance and therefore face some unique challenges from a development perspective.

They do however have advantages in terms of fast feedback loops, high-quality data collection and iterative approach.

You’ll be designing and building electrical systems where we need bespoke components like harnesses or high/low voltage integrations.

You’ll work with buyers to ensure that suppliers are delivering to requirements, ensuring robust procedures are in place for verification, testing and installation.

Over the coming months they have ambitious goals towards ramping up production and increasing the number of vehicles in-market significantly. This will require a more strategic approach. You’ll need to put processes in place that are effective as they move into batch production.

While still in development mode they now have a solid foundation of real-world data and driver feedback to inform decisions.

You’ll provide a crucial interface with other cross functional teams, to ensure roadmap alignment.

This is an early-stage startup environment where everybody pitches in and helps the team deliver.

Experience Needed

  • Significant experience working on EV electrical architecture systems.

  • It's important that you are able to lead projects and teams.

  • Ideally you have designed test and release processes on past projects.

  • Matlab Simulink and Vector Canape, ideally, you’ll have exposure to both but so long as you are comfortable with Simulink they’ll train you on Canape.

  • You’ll need to be solution-oriented and demonstrate a can-do attitude.

  • Understanding of Engineering within an Agile environment.

  • The ability to work onsite 2-3 days a week.

Why Join?

You’ll have significant influence over the electrical systems.

You’ll also have influence over ways of working and approach within the team.

The impact of your work will be quickly apparent, through fast feedback loops and iterative approach.

You’ll quickly take ownership and develop influence within the powertrain team and beyond.

There is a wide range of engineering challenges to get stuck into.

Lots of freedom to innovate.

Unlimited holidays, pension, training budget.
