Job Purpose
The Director of Operations- Grant Writer will provide critical support to the Managing Director in overseeing the preparation of grant applications and the company’s strategic and operational functions. We are seeking a highly organised individual with strong leadership skills who can manage daily business activities and coordinate efforts across functions such as HR, Accounts, IT, and Engineering. Strong grant writing skills are essential, as well as the ability to collaborate with scientists and engineers, read academic papers from diverse disciplines, and manage budgeting.
Key Responsibilities
\t•\tGrant Writing: Lead the preparing grant applications, which includes researching and understanding academic papers across various scientific and engineering fields related to the climate crisis and potential engineering solutions.
\t•\tOperational Management: Manage daily operations to ensure the smooth running of the company.
\t•\tPartnership management: Manage relationships with partner organisations including shipping companies who will host MCB equipment
\t•\tStakeholder Relations: Maintain effective communication with key stakeholders, including board members, clients, and external partners.
\t•\tHR Support: Assist with hiring processes and employee development initiatives to cultivate a high-performance workforce.
\t•\tFinancial Oversight: Manage financial targets and ensure accurate budgeting and forecasting.
\t•\tCompliance and Governance: Ensure the company adheres to relevant regulations and maintains proper corporate governance standards.
\t•\tRepresentation: Represent the Managing Director and the company at meetings, conferences, and other external events as needed.
Key Skills and Qualifications
\t•\tEducation: Bachelor’s degree is required.
\t•\tExperience: A minimum of 5 years in a management role with experience in operations.
\t•\tProblem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make informed decisions under pressure.
\t•\tCommunication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to clearly convey complex information.
\t•\tFinancial Acumen: Solid understanding of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis.
\t•\tAdaptability: Able to adapt to changing circumstances in a dynamic business environment.
\t•\tIT Proficiency: Familiarity with business management software and tools.
