About Us: Huxley Bertram Engineering is a leading designer and manufacturer of bespoke special purpose machines and automated equipment. We support many machines in the UK and around the world. Working at Huxley Bertram is often described as “being in an engineer’s playground.”
The Role: We are seeking engineers at either engineer or junior engineer level to work with Senior Engineers on projects supporting the design, build, and commissioning of equipment for clients. The work spans mechanical, electrical, and control engineering across various applications and industries.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Senior Engineers on diverse projects.
- Liaise with design teams, other departments, clients, and contractors.
- Read and understand design specifications and technical drawings.
- Prepare and monitor project schedules.
- Design and detail systems and products using 3D CAD (Solidworks).
- Develop test rigs and prototype equipment.
- Assist with production build.
- Commission and Acceptance Test final products or systems.
- Research suitable solutions and estimate costs and timescales.
- Work to BS and EN standards, Machinery Directive, and CE regulations.
- Prepare product documentation.
- Procure parts and monitor costs and budgets.
Candidates: Ideal candidates will have:
- A degree in engineering or equivalent qualification.
- Experience in automation, product handling, or special purpose machinery.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD and 2D Engineering drawings (Solidworks or similar).
- A structured and organised approach to project management.
- Understanding of electrical control systems.
- Capability in PLC programming (advantageous but not essential).
- Willingness and capability to travel nationally and internationally.
- A full driving licence.
- Salary: £25,000 to £50,000 subject to experience, plus discretionary bonus & benefits.
- Flexible working hours (Mon-Fri): 40 hours per week, core time 0930 to 1530.
- 28 days including Bank Holidays, with discretionary additional holidays over Christmas.
