Our client, with an impressive annual turnover of £25 million, specialise in delivering projects valued between £1 million and £10 million for renowned blue-chip clients. Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the estimation process from start to finish on a wide range of construction projects. You will play a crucial role in preparing accurate cost estimates, ensuring project profitability, and driving business success. As a Senior Estimator, you will collaborate with internal teams, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure that all costs are accurately forecasted. You should have a deep understanding of construction methodologies, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to manage complex, multi-phase projects. Key Responsibilities: Estimating & Cost Analysis: Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, subcontractor services, and overheads. Review architectural plans, specifications, and other documents to assess the project scope. Conduct take-offs and quantity surveys from drawings to calculate materials and labor costs. Prepare comprehensive bids and tender submissions within the required deadlines. Risk & Cost Management: Identify potential cost risks, opportunities for savings, and any financial impacts that could affect project delivery. Collaborate with the project management team to ensure that estimates are aligned with budgets and cost control measures. Provide value engineering solutions to reduce costs without compromising quality. Collaboration & Client Interaction: Liaise with clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to gather project information and clarify requirements. Negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain the best pricing and terms. Prepare and present detailed estimates and tender packages to clients and senior management. Market Research & Data Management: Conduct market research to stay updated on current material costs, labor rates, and trends in the construction industry. Maintain and update historical cost databases for future reference. Develop and refine estimating tools, templates, and processes to improve efficiency and accuracy. Leadership & Mentorship: Mentor and support junior estimators and other team members, ensuring that their work aligns with company standards. Contribute to the strategic development of the department, suggesting improvements and innovations. Key Requirements: Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Estimator in the construction industry. Proven track record of preparing accurate cost estimates for [specify project types: commercial, residential, civil, etc.]. Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of construction techniques, methods, and materials. Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, etc.). Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings. Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with project management software (e.g., Procore, Aconex). Soft Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. Strong communication and negotiation skills. High attention to detail and accuracy.
