My client is an established regional civil engineering and earthworks contractor, actively looking to strengthen their pre-construciton team with an experienced Estimator in Ipswich.

Candiates will provide competent estimating services and work winning to maximise the financial effectiveness and profitability of the business, through diligent application of agreed practices and policies, with the careful understanding and development of estimates and pre-construction activities from tender stage through to contract award and project team handover.

Additional duties include:

  • Understanding, producing, and evaluating tender packages.
  • Measuring, formulating tender submissions, performing risk analysis, preparing and agreeing estimates of tenders from first principals pricing, and reviewing with senior leads.
  • Engaging and obtaining specialist sub-contractor/supplier quotes.
  • Maintaining tender, sub-contractor and supplier databases.
  • Identifying and analysing risk and opportunities.
  • Collaborating, presenting, and discussing tender submission with senior leads and clients.
  • Reviewing, agreeing, implementing and improving processes as required.
  • Providing support to project teams.
  • Preparing and issuing sub-contract enquiries and assessments of quotations upon return.
  • Arranging and coordinating site inspections/surveys.
  • Managing post tender queries, clarifications, and negotiations.
  • Preparation and handover to the project team on successful tenders.
  • Reporting to and providing support to senior management.
  • Acting professionally with integrity at all times and promoting businesss/clients best interests.

Successful candidates will possess:

  • HNC/HND or degree Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying or Construction Management.
  • Bulk Earthworks or heavy civils experience (preferred).
  • Proven track record working on tenders ranging up to 15m.
  • IT proficiency with MS Office (Excel) and CANDY estimating software.
  • Chartership or similar incorporated status (desirable).
  • Exceptional communication, people/team management, influence and leadership skills.
  • Ability to ensure tender submissions are both feasible and profitable.
  • Valid UK driving licence to allow travel to live projects across the region.
