Data Solutions Architect (Contract) Location: Mostly Remote Contract Length: 6 months Rate: £800 - £900 per day (Inside IR35) I am currently recruiting on behalf of a high-profile client that is searching for an experienced Data Solutions Architect to join their team on a 6-month contract. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on innovative and cutting-edge data solutions within a highly skilled team, supporting mission-critical projects and working with the latest technologies in cloud architecture and data modeling. Role Overview: As the Data Solutions Architect, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise in the analysis, design, development, and rollout of enterprise-level data architecture solutions. You will work closely with client engagement managers and project managers to ensure the delivery of successful outcomes. You will also play a key role in shaping the vision for future state architectures and ensuring that all proposed solutions align with client business needs. Key Responsibilities: Lead the design, documentation, and implementation of technical data solutions for complex business challenges. Conduct technical assessments and provide forward-looking recommendations on cloud architecture strategies. Design and develop large-scale data models (conceptual, logical, and physical) for data lake and data warehouse environments. Collaborate with stakeholders to develop cloud migration strategies and deliver solutions that integrate people, processes, and technologies. Evaluate the current state of client systems and create future state architectures, providing practical recommendations for moving workloads to the cloud. Use cloud platforms, including AWS, to design and develop enterprise data management architectures. Drive data integration processes (both batch and real-time) using tools like Databricks, AWS Glue, Azure Data Factory, and Matillion. Lead the creation of functional and technical documentation, including data models, data integration specifications, source-to-target mapping, and data testing plans. Collaborate with business users and other technical teams to assess requirements and test solutions. Stay current with emerging data technologies and cloud trends to provide innovative solutions. Key Skills & Experience Required: Minimum of 10 years of experience in Business Intelligence/Data Warehousing, with at least 4 years of recent experience in AWS technical or solution architecture. Proven experience in Enterprise Data Modelling using tools such as ERwin, ER/Studio, or Power Designer. Strong understanding of major database platforms (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, Teradata). Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS, and with big data technologies and tools for cloud data management. Experience in CI/CD tools (e.g., AWS DevOps, Terraform, CodePipeline) and cloud deployment technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). Expertise in architecting and designing solutions on cloud platforms, with a focus on scalability and security. Demonstrated leadership abilities with a focus on collaboration, problem-solving, and the ability to work independently. Preferred Skills & Qualifications: Experience with virtualized and physical compute infrastructure, including security and networking. Knowledge of modern data warehouse concepts (real-time, cloud, Big Data). Previous experience leading project teams in both agile and waterfall development methodologies. Familiarity with data governance, data quality, and master data management best practices. Strong understanding of business intelligence, SQL databases, and data integration processes.
