Construction Planner overview:

My client, a well established Property Developer across the Southeast of England, are looking for an experienced Construction Planner to join them on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will provide a comprehensive and full Planning service by providing a range of key services including early-stage planning and development appraisals, preparation and submissions of planning applications, planning condition monitoring, submissions and compliance. You will be working closely with the Land and New Business Teams to provide early-stage planning advice and support to bringing forward new opportunities.

Construction Planner responsibilities:

  • Undertake site assessments, detailed examination of planning histories, policy analysis, interpretation and consideration of material considerations relating to immediate and strategic sites
  • Support the team with the preparation and project management of different types of planning applications including Outline, Detailed/Full and Reserved Matters, including the discharge of planning conditions and amendment applications
  • Support the team with the briefing and appointment of external consultants, and assistance with LPA engagement at pre, during and post application stage
  • Prepare Planning Statements, Statements of Community Involvement, and other Planning related documents as required to support applications
  • Undertake tasks required to implement stakeholder/public consultation and engagement events
  • Assess the planning merits of a site, formulating planning strategies to promote potential development sites through the plan-making process
  • Prepare representations to Development Plan Documents within agreed timescales as part of strategic site promotion
  • Submit and coordinate Planning appeals
  • Assist with any enforcement issues
  • Keep abreast of current Planning legislation, regulations and government guidance and associated information
  • Provide ad hoc Town Planning advice to the Company as required
  • Monitor S106 agreements and compliance with planning conditions
  • Undertake any other duties of a Town Planning or administrative nature
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues and clients within and external to the Company
  • Participate in networking events with colleagues and clients as required
  • Develop an understanding of what each team does and build relationships with specific teams relevant to Planning
  • Adhere to the Company's financial systems and processes relating to sites including sign-off of fee proposals and invoices, and recording personal expenses
  • Keep paper and electronic filing systems up-to-date
  • Utilise and understand the Company's philosophy and approach including 'product'/standard house-type designs and rationale
  • Read and understand procedures and implement accordingly
  • Use professional Planning judgements to inform the Company and its Clients of most appropriate planning strategies
  • Maintain an up-to-date professional knowledge of Planning law, guidance, appeal decisions and any other guidance that is material to the planning

Construction Planner Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree of equivalent in Planning Studies
  • Minimum 3 years experience in Planning
  • Knowledge of both Public and Private sector construction
