Role: Senior Electrical Engineer

Office Location: Birmingham

Hybrid: Client happy for engineers to work from home and visit office 1 day per month

Duration: 12 Months

Rate: £55 per hour - £65 per hour

Start: ASAP

Great opportunity to join an international consultancy as an Electrical Engineer on a 12 month contract basis.

We are currently working with arguably the biggest multi-disciplined consultancy in the world and due to a major increase in their workload, we are currently looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to work within their Energy, Water & Resources Group. The group provides design and project management services to internal and external clients. The team is involved in a wide range of projects across the electrical and water utilities as well as the renewable energy and environmental sectors.

The team is looking to bring onboard a dynamic engineer, with expertise of an electrical and / or control & instrumentation engineering role/environment.

We're looking for the following qualifications, attributes and skills:

  • Demonstrable experience working in an electrical engineering design capacity in the utility sector with a client organisation, consultant or contractor
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree (2:1 or above) in Electrical Engineering
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering would be advantageous, although not essential
  • On track to become chartered with the IET (or similar)
  • A good understanding of CAD and BIM
  • Some experience with coding languages would be an advantage
  • Possess a strong working knowledge of Office and demonstrate an ability to learn new software within a working environment that increasingly utilises 3D design and digital automation
  • The aptitude to work on your own initiative and be proactive
  • Enthusiasm for career development in electrical engineering in the utilities and associated sectors
  • HV/ MV / LV power design and distribution
  • Building services systems including fire alarm, security, lighting design, lightning protection, earthing etc
  • Control & Instrumentation system and Energy Storage
  • Experience of digital approaches to solve our problems including the relevant current analysis and design software e.g. IT systems, BIM, thermal/energy analysis, calculations packages, etc.
  • A practical understanding of how your designs will be implemented.
