Housing Strategy Officer

Senior Housing Strategy Officer with a relevant degree or equivalent experience in Housing, strategy development, housing development or housing commissioning, who is a strategic thinker and highly organised is required for a well-established organisation based in Wokingham, Berkshire. SALARY: £43,421 - £48,474 per annum + Benefits (pay award pending) LOCATION: Hybrid split between working from home and the office in Wokingham JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent WORKING HOURS: 37 hours per week JOB OVERVIEW We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Senior Housing Strategy Officer with a relevant degree or equivalent experience in Housing, strategy development, housing development or housing commissioning, who is a strategic thinker and highly organised . Working as the Senior Housing Strategy Officer you will join the Strategic Housing team and will be leading on the development and implementation of housing strategies, policies and affordable housing delivery programmes. As the Senior Housing Strategy Officer you will take ownership of particular areas of work, driving them forward and ensuring delivery enabling you to invest in a strategic housing environment and make a positive difference to residents. DUTIES Your main duties and responsibilities as the Senior Housing Strategy Officer will include: Lead on the development of housing strategies e.g., homelessness and rough sleeping strategy and action plan, young persons housing strategy, older persons/specialist housing strategy Lead on affordable housing policies enabling the organisation to secure affordable housing provision through development management Justify affordable housing policies at planning appeals, inquiries and hearings Lead on affordable housing enabling across the Borough, negotiating with developers for both onsite and offsite affordable housing, and liaise with Registered Providers Act as link person in strategic housing team on key issues such as homelessness and domestic abuse Lead on the project management of commissioned housing projects including specialist housing schemes and community led housing schemes, including developing robust business cases, taking projects through from implementation to completion Deputise for the Head of Service when required CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject, or have the equivalent experience of working in housing Partnership working and negotiation skills Financial modelling to support the development of business cases for commissioned housing projects Demonstrable experience of the development of successful external funding bids for housing projects Demonstrable experience of project management models including target setting, monitoring and evaluation Excellent organisational skills and workload management skills Ability to work collaboratively with senior officers, Elected Members, managers, staff, colleagues and partners Self-starter, team player, highly organised and driven individual, with a strong ability to negotiate and achieve results Excellent, written, oral communication skills and IT literacy BENEFITS 31 days annual leave (rising to 36 after 5 years continuous local government service), plus Bank Holidays A Local government pension Flexible working arrangements An Employee Assistance Programme Sport and Leisure discounts Access to an onsite gym A range of employee discounts Salary sacrifice car scheme And more!
