Job Description

Visit East of England (VEE) is the strategic voice of the visitor economy in the region and operates the commercial websites and digital channels of Visit Norfolk, Visit Suffolk and VEE.


The Content Creator will play a central role developing the company’s brands through a variety of mechanisms, not least websites and social media channels, paid and earned promotions, and work closely with business development colleagues to support our commercial activity.


The county brands are consumer-facing and promoted to a domestic audience. The region brand, VEE, is predominantly business-facing and also used for our travel trade and inbound tourism activity.


JOB DESCRIPTION

Main duties and responsibilities:


  • Write original and compelling blog content for Visit Norfolk and Visit Suffolk websites, including destination guides and top guides that favour businesses engaged with our commercial activity.
  • Produce monthly consumer e-shots for Visit Norfolk and Visit Suffolk.
  • Write compelling content for the twice-yearly There’s Nowhere Like Norfolk and Suffolk e-publications (Winter and Summer issues).
  • Manage and promote content on Visit Norfolk and Visit Suffolk social media channels – X, Facebook and Insta.
  • Involvement with and producing content for Visit Norfolk, Visit Suffolk and Visit East of England promotional campaigns.
  • Work with the team to produce consumer and Travel Trade itineraries.
  • Create and maintain a rolling 12-month major event calendar.

 


The Post

The post is to create enticing and engaging content that will encourage more visitors to take holidays, short breaks and days out in Suffolk and Norfolk while also working closely with sales colleagues to produce content to support our commercial activity.


Starting Date

The starting date is November 2024, on a part-time, permanent basis subject to a probationary period of 3 months.


Contract

The post holder would be required to work 20 hours per week.


Pay

Pro rata £30,000 (FTE)


Location

This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, allowing for both remote work from home and the option to utilise office space (Norwich).


Annual Leave Entitlement

There is an annual holiday entitlement of 20 working days and 8 Bank and Public Holidays, pro rata.


Equipment

You will be provided with a company computer, software and programmes.


Special Circumstances 

Willingness to be flexible by undertaking additional duties and at times working in different locations. Otherwise, work is from home. Some travel to different locations for meetings could be required. Expenses will be reimbursed

PERSON SPECIFICATION


  • Proven recent experience of working in a busy content role.
  • Demonstrated ability in writing and producing high-quality content for various platforms.
  • Experience of working effectively in a team.
  • Ideally have a comprehensive knowledge of working in WordPress.
  • Experience of prioritising tasks to achieve objectives.
  • Experience of working within the tourism sector.
  • Good IT skills, including proficiency in Word, Excel, email, and databases.
  • Good working knowledge of social media and scheduling tools.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work sensitively with different people's needs.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, including the ability to produce grammatically accurate emails, letters, and memoranda.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently without close supervision.
  • Ability to use your own initiative and resolve standard problems.
  • Quick learner with a willingness to undertake further training, learn new IT and other skills, and apply learned skills in the workplace.
  • Ability to utilise best practices within the team.
