Flux Consulting are working with a respected main contractor in Norwich, specializing in a wide range of construction projects with values up to £3 million. Their commitment to quality, innovation, and client satisfaction has made them a trusted name in the industry and due to expansion they are seeking a skilled Quantity Surveyor to join the team and contribute to their ongoing success.

Role Overview: You will be responsible for managing all costs related to building projects, from the initial calculations to the final figures. Your expertise will help ensure that projects are completed within budget and to the highest standards. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with main contractor experience looking to further their career in a challenging and rewarding environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare cost estimates and budgets for construction projects.
  • Conduct feasibility studies to estimate materials, time, and labor costs.
  • Negotiate and procure subcontractor and supplier agreements.
  • Monitor project costs and financial progress, preparing regular reports.
  • Assess and manage project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Liaise with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant contracts, legislation, and regulations.
  • Prepare and present detailed cost reports and financial statements.
  • Manage the variation and change process, including the preparation and submission of claims.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor environment.
  • Experience managing construction projects up to £3 million in value.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and costs.
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and numerical skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, cost estimating software).
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Relevant degree or qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
  • Membership in a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS) is desirable but not essential.
