Summary
We are delighted to be working on behalf of a recognised innovator in the field of manufacturing and engineering, specialising in the design, development, testing and manufacture of integrated protective systems.
The Role:
Support the lead tooling engineer with mould tool design and sustaining functions, from design concept to production, ensuring efficiency and compliance with company procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop new moulds and tooling.
Support legacy tooling maintenance, repairs, and improvements.
Manage tooling assets and conduct tooling audits.
Ensure tool design complies with health and safety legislation.
Utilise Six Sigma principles to meet objectives and improve processes.
Conduct process verifications using SPC data and prepare process improvement recommendations.
Assist with training manufacturing personnel for new equipment and processes.
Work closely with Maintenance to ensure equipment uptime.
Evaluate and manage capex investments.
Education:
Degree, HND, or apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or Polymer Technology, with rubber mould tool design experience.
Skills & Experience:
Essential:
Strong communication skills and technical knowledge of polymers and manufacturing processes.
Analytical tool design experience and 3D CAD proficiency.
Hands-on practical skills with a self-starter attitude.
Desirable:
Experience with SolidWorks, CAE, FEA techniques, and respirator product design.
Prototyping and testing skills.
Experience:
Minimum 5 years in tooling design and rubber moulding for production components.
