As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for a Catering Assistant to join our close-knit team at Hambrook School located in Burgess Hill. About the role The purpose of this job is to assist the Kitchen Manager to prepare and serve school meals. There is also an element of interaction with students to encourage a happy and healthy school lunchtime. This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English. Responsibilities Assist with the preparation, cooking and serving of meals, considering any special dietary needs To assist with the clearing up and cleaning of the kitchen equipment, kitchen area and dining hall Food preparation, cooking and service to pupils and staff Ensure all health & safety and food hygiene regulations are maintained within the kitchen environment. Ensuring a good standard of cleanliness is maintained Ensuring adequate food supplies Reporting problems raised, any cancellations or extra meals needed and maintaining records To assist in the lunchtime supervision of pupils to ensure that service of food is completed on time in a safe and hygienic setting Report behaviour observations to a teacher for them to maintain the school’s standard of discipline and behaviour Required Appropriate Catering qualifications About us Hambrook School is in Burgess Hill West Sussex. We opened in September 2023 and secured an Ofsted ‘Good’ rating in just 7 short months! We help pupils excel by providing a structured, nurturing approach, alongside a broad, balanced, engaging and extraordinarily rich curriculum. All our pupils have a diagnosis of Autism and an EHCP. We have been inundated with requests of places from Sussex and Surrey Local Authorities and therefore need additional staff to impact the lives of more pupils. We are therefore looking for the perfect person to join us for this next stage of our journey.
