Role: Technical Instructor Position: Contract Location: Hinkley Point C, SomersetDuration: 12 Months / OngoingDay Rate: £255 p/d PAYE + 36 Days annual leave // £340 p/d Umbrella Job Purpose / OverviewThis is an exciting opportunity to join the Nuclear Skills Alliance (NSA) as a Training Instructor at Hinkley Point C (HPC) where we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes. The NSA is developing and delivering training programmes in a number of areas such as Mechanical, Electrical and Instrumentation & Control (I&C) Engineering, Operations, Radiological Protection, Safety Rules, Chemistry, Fuel Route & Environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and delivery of these key training areas. They must be mobile to deliver training where required when needed, ensuring personnel have the required initial knowledge to carry out their roles to a high level. The job holder must ensure accuracy of material, adherence to the training standards / procedures and excellence in quality of delivery. Contextual InformationHinkley Point C is a nuclear site in West Somerset, and its vision is to build two major EPR nuclear plants. The Construction Delivery Lead will specifically oversee the construction within the Nuclear Island (NI) area, including Units 1 & 2 (N1, N2, and N3). As this project is massive in scale and complexity, we're looking for someone with experience in delivering large projects under challenging constraints.Principal AccountabilitiesYou will be working closely with HPC personnel to assist in effective knowledge transfer within the workforce, while developing your own skills and forging an exciting future. The key duties the successful candidate will be required to carry out:The development and delivery of training material in one or more of the key training areasSupport training in classroom or workshop environments, as well as providing coaching and mentoring of trainees to expedite learningAct as course coordinator for responsible training areasResponsible for leading and delivering training to groups from 1 up to 20 people, depending on the subject and environmentCommunicate with line managers for the successful development of competence within their teamsMaintain relationships with stakeholders and Subject Matter Experts (SME) for development of materialKnowledge, Skills, Qualifications & ExperienceEssentialHNC or higher-level qualification in a relevant technical subject or equivalent experience in a relevant science or engineering-related disciplineStrong Microsoft Office skillsGood interpersonal effectiveness and communication skillsAbility to apply current knowledge and adapt to latest technologyAbility to function effectively in a teamAbility to identify, analyse and solve technical problemsStrong mentoring and influencing skillsMobility where required, to deliver relevant training away from the base HPC locationDesirableKnowledge of training processesKnowledge in the field of power generation or a related industryKnowledge of modern learning methods and media, and experience of bringing these into the development and delivery of trainingKnowledge of Vision training toolHolder of a recognised teaching/training qualificationExperience in customer and stakeholder relations Are you ready to be part of a project that's reshaping the energy landscape of the UK?
