About the Role
A leading logistics company is seeking a highly skilled and driven HGV Test Centre Manager to lead its state-of-the-art facility in Cramlington, Northumberland. This exciting opportunity is ideal for someone with a strong background in managing workshops that service HGVs, PCVs, and Light Commercial Vehicles. You'll report directly to the Logistics Director and play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth, efficient running of the test centre, while fostering business growth and upholding excellent customer service standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the test centre and workshop, ensuring maximum productivity and efficiency.
- Lead and drive business development initiatives to expand service offerings.
- Manage budgets and control costs to meet financial targets.
- Enforce stringent health and safety protocols across the facility.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, ensuring effective fleet maintenance services.
- Plan and manage workloads, including Automated Test Facility (ATF) lane scheduling.
- Collaborate closely with the DVSA to ensure compliance.
- Negotiate with suppliers to secure the best pricing on parts and services.
- Oversee invoicing processes to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in a supervisory or managerial role leading a team of technicians in an HGV workshop.
- Expertise in working with commercial fleets, including HGVs, PCVs, and light vehicles.
- Relevant mechanical engineering qualifications or extensive hands-on experience in HGV repair and maintenance.
- Exceptional leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Flexibility and adaptability to manage daily operations smoothly.
- Strong IT skills are essential.
- An HGV Class 1 Driving Licence is desirable but not mandatory.
