Mechanical Engineer – Hydrogen Innovation

Are you passionate about innovation in sustainable energy and engineering? My client, a pioneering company in methane pyrolysis technology, is transforming the hydrogen industry to accelerate its adoption and fight climate change. They are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and optimization of our cutting-edge hydrogen production systems.


About

My clients' groundbreaking methane pyrolysis technology delivers the lowest-cost hydrogen from natural or bio-gas with almost zero CO2 emissions. Their patented process reduces emissions by producing a green solid carbon co-product, helping to replace billions of tons of virgin carbon used annually. As hydrogen becomes a multi-trillion-dollar market, they're is set to be a key enabler in the transition to a low-carbon economy.


Key Responsibilities


As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing and optimizing their hydrogen production reactor systems.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the mechanical design process for the microwave reactor and production subsystems.
  • Collaborating with the Engineering Director and CTO to develop, test, and integrate production systems.
  • Designing containerized production systems using CAD tools like SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
  • Managing the mechanical fitting of components and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Sourcing and specifying components for their hydrogen generators.


What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or HNC/HND qualification.
  • At least 3 years of experience in an engineering design environment.
  • Expertise in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • Experience with solids handling and high-temperature ATEX environments is highly desirable.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic startup environment and adapt to emerging technologies.
