This Opportunity:

The Humanitarian and Stabilisation Operations Team (HSOT) is seeking to appoint a Finance Manager who will act as a business partner for the programme. HSOT, implemented by Palladium, provides the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and other UK Government departments with capacity and specialist expertise for effective UK response to sudden-onset disasters, protracted crises, and complex emergencies. This role will be responsible for project accounting functions including forecasting, variance analysis, budgeting and producing financial reports.

The position is based in Palladium’s London

office.

Reporting and Supervision: This role will report directly into the Senior Programme Manager - Operations and will support the HSOT Senior Management Team (SMT) as well as stakeholders such as the Vice President of Finance, EMEA wider HSOT core team and consultants, Palladium colleagues, client counterparts and partner organisations.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities: Financial Management: Setting targets for the Finance Team to meet key company and client deliverables, quality assuring reporting and contributions against variable scheduled. . Managing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions for the programme. Assuring project governance deliverables such as timelines and milestones, risk and escalation, plus stakeholder management. Manage and facilitate internal/external project level financial audits, i with particular focus on legislative compliance and taxation. Lead the creation of annual budgets for the company and for the client, and then ownership of client and company forecasts, ensuring robust planning assumptions are well understood by the wider HSOT team. Contribute to planning and executing transition of the Finance capability to a successor programme, responding in a timely manner to information requests and tasks that ensure successful closure of HEROS 1 and smooth transition. Take a lead on Financial data management and transfer during the transition phase. Engaging with teams across HSOT to work on the exit plan and undertake other duties as required during the transition period.

Personnel Management: Provide line management to the HSOT Finance team, setting performance targets and set clear expectations for quality, accuracy, and timeliness. Manage performance of staff by providing clear guidance, support, mentoring and coaching as well developing and delivering training opportunities against identifierd skill gaps. Ensure new staff across the programme are inducted and supported in financial management best practice, and regularly run refresher trainings. Identify and promote cross team working opportunities for the finance team.

Essential Criteria: Strong accounting, business, and administration skills policies and procedures, with ability to analyse financial data and prepare financial reports. Strong analytical, planning, and financial management skills coupled with the ability to thrive under pressure. High level of attention to detail and accuracy with ability to resolve complex issues, build solid relationships and deliver outcomes. High standard of written and verbal communication skills in English. Excellent skills in Microsoft Office – particularly Excel.. Experience of leading a team and managing and developing people, including uplifting process and controls to best practice standards Desirable Criteria: Experience in project accounting and revenue recognition, with business or accounts administration desirable.
