Thames & Hudson is the leading global publisher of illustrated books on all aspects of human creativity, the visual arts, history and popular culture. We are looking for an International Rights Assistant with a passion for illustrated publishing.
Reporting to the Head of International Rights you will be responsible for the accurate fulfilment of international language co-edition and licence agreements and will provide full administrative back-up to our Rights Executives. This role will involve regular liaison with other in-house departments, including finance, editorial, design, marketing & publicity, production, and picture research, as well as with external publishers. We are therefore looking for a team player with great communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Providing full administrative back-up to the Rights Executives, ensuring accurate fulfilment of all co-edition and licence sales
- Raising, sending and tracking orders, contracts and invoices
- Sending out translation materials and answering editorial and production queries
- Liaising daily with publishers via e-mail, phone and video conferencing
- Tracking production of co-editions, monitoring schedules
- Checking international language files, sending out printing materials for approval and arranging shipping of finished books
- Maintaining departmental spreadsheets to track co-edition and licence sales, schedules, invoicing and payments
Knowledge, skills and experience
- Office experience, including good keyboard and computer skills
- Intermediate ability with MS Office, especially Excel
- Publishing qualification and/or some previous publishing experience would be desirable, preferably gained in a sales or production environment
- European languages (preferred but not essential) and an interest in working with people from other countries and cultural backgrounds
- Excellent organisational skills
- Strong communication skills - both written and spoken
- Ability to prioritise and multi-task
- Attention to detail and a high standard of accuracy
- Numeracy and commercial awareness
