Are you a natural Housing Officer with strong people skills? Keen to make a positive difference to people's lives?
We have a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and compassionate Housing Officer working a minimum of 40 hours per week (some of which will be unsocial) to join our Housing Services team based in Bedford on a permanent basis. This role be be working out with clients who are based between Luton and Bedford. The successful candidate will receive a salary of £24,770 per annum plus excellent benefits. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in the management of the referral process within the service to agreed occupancy/target levels
Lead in the assessment and management of risk including the operation of physical and situational security measures to control the level of risk posed to the public, staff and others in relation to the referral and letting of properties
Providing information and advice about Welfare Benefits especially that of Housing Benefit. Providing additional advice where appropriate to ensure the tenant's income is maximised in such a way as to achieve independent living.
Provide relevant information to tenants and get feedback from them on occupancy related matters, informing occupants about housing performance and oversee the housing management complaints and suggestions policy as directed by the Service Manager.
Take action to address incidents of rent arrears. Due to the vunerability of the client group, the area of rent arrears will require a lot of intervention in partnership with benefit advice and advocacy/agencies.
