The role

Our client is looking for an experienced Public Sector Account Director - To Drive the performance and growth of the Strategic Central Government sector by ensuring plans are in place to meet the targets outlined in the 5-year growth strategy. Take a 36-month outlook, developing and executing key deal plans that expand the company’s influence in critical government departments. Manage pursuit strategies for key opportunities and vendor/partner relationships, ensuring alignment with product and service goals. Additionally, explore new market opportunities while protecting established accounts.

The role is on a Hybrid basis working at least 3 days a week in one of the UK offices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify targets for future pursuits and create a detailed pursuit calendar, ensuring focus well before the ITT phase. Leverage existing tools to analyse spending profiles and strategies.
  • Pinpoint FY25 deals that promise short-term margin gains, and develop a rolling pipeline.
  • Contribute to organisational adjustments to ensure proper expertise is available for C-suite engagements across all five key customers.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships within the company’s management team, ensuring familiarity with all service offerings. Act as an advocate for the company’s broader strategic goals and attend Sales Operations Board meetings in an advisory capacity when required.
  • Establish and maintain senior-level relationships with strategic customers and prospects within the territory. Ensure that growth opportunities in key accounts are identified at least 18 months ahead, and develop pursuit strategies accordingly.
  • Build and maintain vendor relationships within the territory, focusing on achieving differentiation in specific pursuits. Recommend potential partnerships or acquisitions when beneficial.
  • Prioritise campaign strategies to support new business acquisition in the territory.

Skills and Experience:

  • Must have previous Public Sector experience.
  • Proven experience in sales management.
  • Ability to manage complex teams and deliver a cohesive message to clients.
  • Long-term strategic thinking, particularly in previously untapped markets.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate and maintain board-level relationships.
  • IT industry experience.
  • Preferably, existing contacts within the vendor community, or a proven record of developing and maintaining external partnerships.
