Systems Architecture and Requirements Engineer

Location: Wiltshire

Permanent – Full Time

Hybrid: Onsite 2x a week

Summary

Our client, a specialist consultancy supporting, Government, Defence and National Security initiatives in next generation programmes is seeking to find Systems Engineers with capability to manage and maintain complex systems using industry-standard tools. A history working on both technical and strategic aspects of engineering. To support the MOD in delivery of a major Category A program which holds massive significance to UK public sector.


Key Responsibilities:


Requirements Management: Support the management of system requirements, ensuring alignment with project objectives. Utilize tools like DOORS and Dimensions RM for requirements engineering, including updates and maintenance of requirements documentation such as the System Requirements Document (SRD) and Verification Cross Reference Index (VCRI).

Systems Engineering: Apply a range of systems engineering techniques to analyse and solve complex problems, ensuring compliance with public sector procurement standards and defence operational models. Engage in systems modelling and use frameworks like TOGAF for structured analysis.

Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate cross-functionally with diverse stakeholders, including the Ministry of Defence (MOD), to gather input, provide advice, and ensure alignment across various program levels.

Verification and Validation: Lead efforts in verification and validation processes, ensuring that system designs meet requirements and that all links between different requirement levels are maintained and validated.

Documentation and Configuration Control: Ensure meticulous documentation and configuration control throughout the project lifecycle. Provide proactive support in maintaining all technical documentation, ensuring traceability and compliance with project standards.


Essential Experience:

  • Strong background in systems and requirements engineering, with experience in using tools like DOORS and Dimensions RM.
  • Demonstrable analytical skills for performance analysis and reporting, with a strong mathematical foundation (degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, or similar).
  • Extensive experience in public sector procurement processes, particularly within defense.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage and influence stakeholders effectively.
  • Familiarity with the MOD requirements approach and the Golden Thread concept, linking high-level requirements to specific project outcomes.
  • Strong configuration management skills, ensuring accurate documentation and consistent application of standards.
  • UK Security Clearance (SC) eligibility, with UK nationality as a prerequisite.


Desirable Experience:

  • Experience with MOD Category A or B programs.
  • Knowledge of satellite communications, particularly in a military context.
  • Experience in using additional toolsets like PowerBI and Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Familiarity with Knowledge in Defence (KiD) guidance and its practical application.
  • Modelling skills and experience with architectural frameworks.
  • Advanced vetting clearance (DV)
