Civil Design Manager

Role Purpose
Our client is looking for a Civil Design Engineering Manager to join on a permanent, full-time basis. This is a new role due to internal movements, and it offers a pathway to join the Senior Leadership Team. The role will involve managing the Mechanical Design Engineering team and expanding the company s Civil engineering capabilities.

This opportunity is ideal for someone ready to step into a Manager position, and applications are welcome from Senior Design Engineers and Lead Design Engineers.

The Role
The role is contracted for 42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. The Engineering Manager position offers a hybrid working model, negotiable during the hiring process, with client meetings taking precedence. The role will involve travel to and from client sites, and the ideal candidate should be based within a commutable distance to their office in the heart of Somerset.

Main Responsibilities:

• Lead, develop, and oversee the Civil and Mechanical engineering department.
• Expand the Civil design capability while enhancing the skills of the experienced Mechanical Design team.
• Oversee Civil and Mechanical Engineering Design components of projects, liaising with all internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate closely with various other departments throughout the business.
• Arrange and support site investigations.
• Provide technical support to the wider business.
• Support the promotion of the company's core values.

Requirements

Experience

• Strong Civil design engineering experience on small to medium-sized projects.
• Experience working in UK Water and/or Waste Water industries or similar engineering schemes.
• Experience managing, developing, and coaching multi-disciplined design teams.
• Proficiency in CAD-based design systems, structural analysis, CDE systems, and planning tools.
• Experience in design project management and financial reporting.
• Ability to work from project specifications, statements of need, self-developed scopes, and relevant legislation.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Civil and/or Mechanical Engineering.
• Professional body memberships.
