Account Director - IT Consultancy (Department for Education)


Are you a strategic and driven Account Director with a passion for driving IT initiatives in the education sector? Do you have a track record of securing high-value contracts and building relationships with key stakeholders? If so, our client is looking for you to help them expand their business with the Department for Education.


Position: Account Director

Sector: Government & Education

Location: UK-based with travel, mostly across Southern England

Salary: £75,000 - £100,000 per annum + Commission and excellent benefits

Type: Permanent

Clearance: Must hold SC clearance or be eligible to gain SC clearance


About the Company:

Our client is a leading IT consultancy specializing in IT resource augmentation and project services. They have a strong reputation for delivering innovative IT solutions within the public sector. This role will focus on growing business specifically with the Department for Education.


Role Overview:

As an Account Director, you will play a key role in developing and securing new business with the Department for Education. You’ll leverage your expertise to align the company’s IT services with the needs of the education sector, fostering long-term relationships with key decision-makers.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Business Development: Identify and pursue new opportunities within the Department for Education.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key education sector stakeholders.
  • Proposal Creation: Lead the development of tailored proposals that highlight the company’s IT service offerings.
  • Market Insight: Stay informed on education sector trends and government initiatives to position services effectively.
  • Sales Strategy: Collaborate with internal teams to align offerings with client needs and deliver on project goals.


Candidate Requirements:

  • Proven experience in business development within IT consultancy, ideally targeting the public sector or education.
  • Strong understanding of IT services, including resource augmentation and project management.
  • Familiarity with public sector procurement processes, particularly within education.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • SC clearance or eligibility to obtain it.
  • Willingness to travel across the UK as needed.
