Data Protection Specialist

A leading corporate banking and capital markets organisation is seeking a Data Protection Specialist to join their team in London. Main Purpose of this role: Supporting the Data Protection Officer with General Data Protection Regulation (‘GDPR’), Group policy frameworks, and any other relevant privacy law or regulation to safeguard the personal data of colleagues and clients. A subject matter expert providing consultancy and assurance for the Data Protection needs of the business

Key Activities and Key Competencies: Reporting to the Data Protection Officer of Commerzbank AG London Branch, the primary functions of this role include: Identifying and assessing all relevant data processing activities within the branch through interaction across the business. Identifying privacy risks in processes and systems; determine appropriate remediation. Fostering a culture of Data Protection awareness. Designing and delivering local training content to the branch to supplement group products. Interpreting and advising on relevant regulations and privacy practices, including maintaining current and forward-looking understanding of those topics. Responding to data subject rights, queries and requests. Ensuring Data Protection requirements are appropriately maintained in our outsourcings and third-party arrangements. Managing, updating and recertifying Data Protection documentation Investigating and responding to potential Data Breaches and maintaining a Data Breach Register

Key Requirements: Previous professional experience working in a dedicated data protection role. Must demonstrate solid understanding of GDPR and other relevant legal frameworks and should, ideally, have studied the field and/or be professionally certified in this area. Self-starter, able to independently prioritise and manage tasks. Ability to interact successfully across the organisation at diverse levels of seniority.
