Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Transport Supervisor to join our team at a leading transport and distribution company in Immingham. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the efficient management of daily transport operations, supporting our drivers and transport teams, and maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Supervise day-to-day transport operations, ensuring timely and cost-effective deliveries.
* Coordinate and manage the dispatch of vehicles, routes, and drivers.
* Monitor vehicle availability, utilisation, and maintenance schedules, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
* Ensure that all transport activities comply with current legislation, including tachograph, Working Time Directive (WTD), and driver hours regulations.
* Liaise with internal departments and external customers to ensure service levels and delivery requirements are met.
* Conduct regular driver briefings, performance reviews, and training to enhance efficiency and safety.
* Oversee the completion and accuracy of transport documentation, including manifests, delivery notes, and compliance records.
* Assist in managing breakdowns, vehicle servicing, and arranging MOTs to ensure the fleet is fully operational.
* Support the transport manager in monitoring KPIs and ensuring continuous improvement within the department.
Skills & Experience Required:
* Proven experience in a transport or logistics supervisory or management role.
* Knowledge of road freight forwarding is advantageous.
* Proven experience in a multidrop environment.
* Strong understanding of transport regulations, including O-Licence compliance and health and safety standards.
* Excellent organisational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work closely with drivers, planners, and customers.
* Competency in route planning and scheduling software.
* Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications:
* A CPC qualification would be advantageous.
* Multidrop experience is a must.
* Knowledge of road freight forwarding or international logistics is a plus.
* Valid UK driving license.
