Position: Head of Software Engineering

The Role
Our client is seeking a skilled and motivational Head of Software Engineering to lead their Development team. You will collaborate closely with the CTO and Product Manager to drive innovation and establish their position as a leading player in the sector.
Key Qualifications:
At least 10 years of commercial development experience, with hands-on expertise in bespoke software development.
Experience in:
Subscription management systems
Building payment systems from the ground up, including tokenization and identity verification
Payment orchestration
Required Skills:
Proficient in SQL-based databases
Familiar with PHP, AWS, JavaScript, LAMP frameworks, and Docker
Proven experience in contributing to and executing multi-year development roadmaps
Ability to manage teams using Agile methodologies, including tools like JIRA and GitLab
Strong communication skills, punctuality, and a commitment to mentoring team members
Capability to evaluate systems for procurement decisions and provide clear, jargon-free reports to leadership
Attention to detail and a collaborative mindset
Desirable Skills:
Knowledge of frameworks such as Vue or React
Experience with white-label or multi-territory consumer websites
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the team by delivering high-quality code and enhancing productivity
Promote professional discipline and foster a culture of innovation and collaboration
Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure the engineering division aligns with company strategy
Support the hiring and retention of top talent
Manage project timelines, estimations, and deadlines
Ensure robust security measures are in place
Proactively identify potential issues and mitigate risks
Additional Information:
Full-time position based in Greater London, with access to nearby transport options.
Recommended travel options include driving or cycling.
