Job Title: Events & Community Manager

Location: St. Albans, Hertfordshire, UK (paid parking provided)

Salary: £30-35k + benefits


Are you passionate about building communities and creating social value? We’re seeking a driven Events & Community Manager to help shape and execute engagement strategies across the Understanding Recruitment Group. In this exciting & hugely varied role, reporting to the Head of Marketing, you’ll work closely with our marketing and leadership teams to enhance community engagement, run events, manage social value initiatives, and drive brand reputation forward.

Events & Community Manager key responsibilities:


Community & Strategy Development:

  • Develop and implement tailored community engagement strategies across all five brands.
  • Collaborate with team leads to meet specific objectives and enhance overall engagement.
  • Manage impactful initiatives like UR Wise – Women in Science and Engineering mentorship Scheme, and other social value programmes.


Event Management & Engagement:

  • Organise, oversee, and attend events/meetups for our communities.
  • Attend and represent the company at key industry events, building networks and keeping up-to-date with trends.
  • Lead our internal sustainability initiatives, including volunteering and tree planting projects.


Content & Communications:

  • Facilitate LinkedIn Live sessions and newsletters to drive user-generated content and community interaction.
  • Manage podcast uploads, blogs, and content updates to foster industry engagement.
  • Facilitate personal branding bootcamps for our UK and US teams.


Social Impact Reporting & Projects:

  • Prepare detailed social impact reports on key initiatives and outcomes, helping to inform future strategies.
  • Support tender applications by leveraging insights from social value data and reports.
  • Play an active role in our Social Impact Committee, contributing ideas and guiding projects forward.


Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in community management, events, social value, or a related field.
  • Event planning and stakeholder management skills are essential for organising high-impact meetups and engagements.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to generate and manage user-generated content.
  • Strong data analysis and reporting skills, especially for social value and community impact metrics.
  • A self-starter who can work independently and take ownership of diverse projects.
  • Familiarity with content management systems, Canva, Wondershare Filmora, email platforms, and the recruitment industry is a plus.
