Our scalable, reliable, and secure Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem gives our clients the tools they need to deliver cutting edge solutions profitably, so they can focus on delighting their customers.

The Role

We are seeking a talented Hardware Designer with hands-on experience in PCB prototyping machines to join our cutting-edge, office-based team in Stevenage. This is an in-house role, working in a brand new, state-of-the-art laboratory, where you'll have the opportunity to develop next-generation hardware solutions for our innovative products. The ideal candidate will have a passion for creating precise, efficient, and high-performance hardware, with a particular focus on PCB prototyping, multi-layer board design, and complex electronics integration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop hardware solutions with a focus on PCB prototyping, ensuring seamless integration of sensors, microcontrollers, and communication modules.
  • Operate and maintain PCB prototyping machines for rapid in-house prototyping and iteration of hardware designs. Develop schematics and PCB layouts for IoT devices, with a focus on multi-layer PCB designs, blind and buried vias, and vias-in-pad.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve connectivity issues, optimizing for signal integrity and range.
  • Create and test IoT hardware prototypes, validating functionality, performance, and durability.
  • Conduct hardware validation tests, including RF performance, signal integrity, and environmental stress testing.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues in IoT hardware designs, making necessary adjustments.
  • Work closely with software developers, cloud engineers, and product managers to ensure seamless hardware-software integration in IoT systems.
  • Document hardware designs, test procedures, and results to support product development and manufacturing.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide feedback on IoT hardware design and development processes.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in IoT hardware design and wireless communication.
  • Contribute to R&D efforts to improve existing IoT products and develop new innovative solutions.
  • Explore emerging technologies in sensors, communication modules, and power management for IoT applications.
  • Manage project timelines and deliverables, ensuring that IoT hardware design projects are completed on time and within budget.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in hardware design with a focus on IoT devices and systems.
  • Proficiency in circuit design tools such as Altium Designer and experience operating PCB prototyping machines.
  • Experience with wireless communication protocols and technologies (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, LoRa, NB-IoT, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of low-power electronics, sensor integration, and microcontroller interfacing.
  • Experience with PCB layout and design for IoT devices, including multi-layer boards.
  • Expertise in multi-layer PCB design, including the use of blind and buried vias, and vias-in-pad techniques.
  • Experience with RF layout design and antenna matching networks.
  • Familiarity with embedded systems design, including firmware development and debugging.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience with security protocols for IoT devices and data transmission.
