School Caretaker

School Caretaker/Handyman Location: Birmingham Hours: 08:00 – 16:00 or 10:30 - 18:30 (flexible hours) Hourly: £13.50 – £15.00 GSL Education are a looking for an experienced school Caretaker/Handyman to assist a school in Birmingham. This is a full time, ongoing position and your working hours would be 07.00 – 15.00 Monday to Friday immediately. School holidays and weekends may be required as additional but will be throughout the year. As a School Caretaker, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of the school premises ensuring a safe and well maintained environment for staff and students. Caretakers play vital role in the maintenance and security of the school grounds. You will be responsible for day-to-day maintenance, providing cleaning, gardening, building maintenance and support across the site. Responsibilities will include: Opening and closing the building ensuring the site is safe and secure Carrying out general maintenance and minor repairs Checking heating, lighting, and alarm systems. Moving furniture and arranging chairs and tables for meetings or assemblies. Routine maintenance of school buildings and grounds and also undertaking minor repair work, for example changing light bulbs, erecting shelves, painting and redecorating, minor plumbing, as well as grounds maintenance including grass-cutting Cleaning duties including litter, bins, and toilets; assistance with deep cleaning of classroom and school pool/changing rooms. Porterage of heavy objects for example stock, furniture, or equipment Ensuring the school has sufficient stock of cleaning resources Overseeing of external contractors visiting the school site Have a full working knowledge of all cleaning equipment, materials and approved chemicals. Ensure all Safeguarding Policies are always adhered to and raise any concerns in line with school policy. Caretaking experience is preferred, however similar experience can be accepted. You must have sound knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations. Requirements: Hold a right to work within the UK •             Enhanced DBS Child and Adult Check – Must be on the update service. (We can assist you with a DBS if you do not have one) •             2x Educational References are a must in order to clear your file with GSL.
