Our client is a market leading, global Legal firm headquartered in central London.


We are seeking a Manager to support our client’s UK Corporate & Finance Group with work allocation and resource management.


This is an opportunity for a professional at advisor or junior manager level to provide dedicated resource management for practice areas like M&A, Tax, and DCM. The Resource Manager will:


  • Assist in staffing junior lawyers for client matters based on experience, skills, and availability.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the practice areas to match lawyers with appropriate cases.
  • Support the firm's commitment to Diversity and Inclusion by aligning work allocation with individual development and wellbeing.


Key Responsibilities

  • Build relationships with partners to understand their resourcing needs and provide regular capacity reports.
  • Monitor team utilisation and flag issues to managers in real-time.
  • Maintain strong relationships with associates to understand their skills, capacity, and aspirations.
  • Track and monitor time sheets, including for leavers.


Analysis and Reporting

  • Conduct monthly analysis on work allocation to improve processes and address concerns.
  • Compare forecasted vs. actual utilisation and recommend adjustments as needed.
  • Manage holiday mapping to ensure smooth work allocation.


Person Specification

Essential Qualifications & Skills

  • Prior experience in work allocation/resource management in a Corporate practice.
  • Proven ability to work with senior stakeholders and proficiency in Excel for reporting.


Desired Qualifications & Skills

  • Qualified Lawyer (non-practicing).
  • Coaching and development experience, and familiarity with IT systems like Microsoft Project and SharePoint.


The role requires excellent communication skills, a proactive approach, and the ability to influence and build effective relationships at all levels.
