Job Requirements / Description

Our client are a leading and well established affordable housing contractor operating throughout West London and are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Material Buyer to join their team. Carrying out the full material procurement process including scheduling and take offs, across four live affordable housing and apartment schemes.

Responsibilities:

End-to-end material procurement: Lead the full procurement cycle for all materials across the four projects, from initial sourcing and tendering to contract negotiation, order placement, and delivery management.
Cost optimisation: Develop and implement cost-effective procurement strategies, ensuring competitive pricing and maximising value for the company.
Supplier relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with a network of reputable suppliers, ensuring consistent quality and timely deliveries.
Supply chain management: Oversee the entire material supply chain, including stock control, inventory management, and logistics.
Project coordination: Liaise closely with Project Managers, site teams, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless material delivery and meet project deadlines.
Contract administration: Manage supplier contracts, including negotiation, documentation, and performance monitoring.
Market research and analysis: Stay informed about market trends, material availability, and pricing fluctuations to inform procurement decisions.
Continuous improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost optimization within the procurement function.

Requirements:

Proven track record in material procurement within the construction industry, with experience in affordable housing projects.
Minimum of 5 years experience.
Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Proficient in using procurement software and systems.
Highly organised and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
