1:1 Teaching Assistant - Mainstream Setting

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join our supportive and inclusive primary school in Harrow. This role will involve working in a mainstream setting, providing targeted support to children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and challenging behaviour. All children supported will have Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs). Key Responsibilities: * Provide 1:1 support tailored to meet the individual needs of children with SEN, helping them access the curriculum and fully engage in school life. * Implement strategies outlined in the child’s EHCP to support their learning, behaviour, and social development. * Collaborate with class teachers, SENCO, and other school staff to create a nurturing, safe, and inclusive learning environment. * Develop strong, positive relationships with children, helping them to build confidence and resilience. * Support children with challenging behaviour, using patience and effective behaviour management strategies. Requirements: * Prior experience working in a school setting, particularly with children who have SEN and complex needs. * Experience supporting children with ASD, SEMH, and challenging behaviour is essential. * A valid DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) certificate, registered on the DBS Update Service (Child or Child and Adult Workforce). * Strong communication skills, with the ability to stay calm, patient, and resilient in challenging situations. * A caring and flexible approach to support the varied needs of children. * Ability to work full-time, from 8:15 AM to 3:45 PM.
