Notable schemes include HS2, Claridge’s Hotel basement and Battersea Power station which have involved NEC, bespoke trade and JCT forms of contract We develop smart engineering solutions to complex problems and develop methods of working that enable fast delivery with safety and quality by design. We operate a risk-based approach in everything that we do; identifying and mitigating risks through our planning. We compliment this with our in-house supply chain, self-delivery philosophy and our support services. We’re a London specialist Working as part of our Environmental and Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability team, this is an exciting opportunity to have significant influence on the delivery of continual improvement in our environmental performance. Main Focus of the Role As an Environmental Advisor you will be responsible for ensuring projects comply with the environmental regulations and targets set out at the beginning of the project. This will include addressing issues such as Air Quality, Land/Water contamination, Waste Management and the overall environmental impact of the construction process. Managing regulations and targets that apply to the internal and external environment. Environmental Advisors are also involved in a level of corporate and social responsibility, engaging with the local community acting as a champion on site to investigate complaints as necessary working with the site team to resolve in a prompt manner limiting impact of nuisance and other local social enterprises to promote circular economy principles. Key Responsibilities: BREEAM/LEED requirements Engaging with all relevant stakeholders on multiple projects for all environmental and sustainability requirements to ensure compliance with contractual obligations are met, promoting best practice. Discharging planning obligations and other local authority statutory requirements Preparation of all site based documents in line with company policies and procedures and other 3rd party documents Carry out audits/inspections & impact assessments of sites and workplaces to determine whether work is being carried out in accordance with Company Policy, procedures and relevant statutory provisions Carry out Environmental NCR investigations in accordance with the company procedure, analysing all data, making appropriate recommendations Collate business/contract environmental statistics in a timely manner and submit for reporting purposes. Ensure all personnel are aware of their statutory duties and responsibilities and to provide advice as and when required Working with the wider Corporate and Social Responsibility team, engaging with the wider community. Environmental training: Training staff and other stakeholders on environmental issues and responsibilities Environmental service agreements: Negotiating environmental service agreements and managing associated costs and revenue Environmental strategies: Developing and implementing strategies to promote sustainable development Managing waste: Oversee waste management, recycling, and pollution control. Carbon: managing client led KPIs for all carbon reporting on site We are flexible on experience and skill level; what matters most to us is finding the right fit for our team, along with a positive attitude and adaptability. Ideally you will have experience in a similar role in construction. Experience of demolition, complex civil engineering, groundworks, basements and structures packages would be beneficial but not essential. As would working knowledge of the following: BREEAM ISO14001:2015 Application of environmental law in the construction industry Noise, Vibration and Dust Management mitigation measures and monitoring. Personal Skills Ability to establish and maintain good relationships with clients and colleagues Good communication skills – both verbal and written - the ability to liaise and build effective relationships with a broad range of key internal and external stakeholders is essential.
