We are working with a leading law firm based in London for an Associate to join their Marine team.
The Role:
The role involves handling a range of claims including hull, war, marine liability, cargo, mortgagee’s interest insurance, marine cyber, and yachts, as well as addressing both wet and dry shipping matters. The position also requires some policy drafting, and candidates with arbitration (particularly under LMAA terms) and litigation experience are strongly preferred. Language skills are advantageous, and there may be opportunities for international travel.
The successful candidate will work within a team that advises domestic and international clients on a broad spectrum of marine insurance and shipping issues. The client base includes insurers, charterers, shipowners, freight forwarders, commodity marine service tenders, ports and terminal operators, with the work covering complex disputes, insurance policy drafting, and commercial contract matters. Essential Criteria:
- 2-4 years’ PQE. UK qualified or CILEX qualified with relevant experience;
- Experience of marine insurance at an established shipping law firm;
- Arbitration and court procedures experience;
- Previous experience with client contact and attendance at business development events.
