Role SummaryAs an Investor at Triple Point, you will be a core member of our Venture investment team, sourcing and leading new deals and supporting the team in all key aspects of the investment process (including investment due diligence and managing new deals as they progress through our pipeline).You'll need to have - and want to continue building - a personal network, alongside a natural entrepreneurial, ‘self-starter’ instinct for independent work. Together, these characteristics will help you originate and win new deals.Leveraging your analytical ability, as well as investing you’ll be expected to research sectors, tech trends and developments of interest to you and the team, with a view to writing about these areas and informing Triple Point’s view and focus on future investments. You will also play a role in monitoring portfolio companies.Key ResponsibilitiesFind new investment opportunities – you will be a gateway to the investment team, reviewing pitch decks and proactively reaching out to companies that look interesting for investment. From day one you’ll take meetings alone, and as part of a group evaluating deals.You’ll need to demonstrate the ability to work independently to be able to find promising deals, represent Triple Point and ‘level with’ capable founders. You'll be a self-starter that builds your own network in the UK and European VC and start-up communities, whether by attending or speaking at events or by developing personal relationships with founders, operators and peers at other funds.Lead and support new investments – you will take responsibility for all aspects of a deal process and work with colleagues as appropriate to support team decision-making, contributing your opinion to weekly deal discussion meetings and writing investment papers for investment committee approval.Understand market trends and contribute content – alongside dealmaking, you’ll take time to research relevant sectors, competitive landscapes and key dynamics. Use your research to inform the team’s view on markets and provide others with deeper insight into relevant areas, as well as using this insight to write articles for Triple Point.Monitor existing and new investments – you’ll take board positions representing Triple Point and support portfolio companies with your own and team network where appropriate. You will need to build close working relationships with portfolio company founding teams, so you can manage complex situations within the portfolio inc performance management, follow-on rounds and exits as well as be responsible for company fund valuation and identify follow-on funding opportunities.Knowledge and ExperienceYou need to be a highly numerate individual with a flair for numbers.Either venture or strong start-up experience.2-5 years’ mid-level experience in a venture capital firm in a role where you analysed, pitched meaningfully and contributed to investment decision making. If you led deals in this time, that is a strong plus.Or 2-8 years’ experience at a fast-paced series B+ or unicorn technology start-up, in a role that required you to understand, influence and shape your company’s product and/or commercial value proposition.Before your current role, you will have worked in another fast-paced and analytical corporate/start-up environment, such as banking, management consultancy, law or a start-up.Strong working grasp of Microsoft Excel, as it relates to the three financial statements.Qualities and CompetenciesIt’s critical to have a passionate curiosity about start-up business models, international tech trends, markets and what makes for a successful VC investment.You will be proactive self-starter, figuring things out for yourself, and be able to work independently.You will be ‘confidently humble’ – a confident, articulate speaker when knowledgeable, but intellectually humble and willing to learn when you are unsure of something.You will have excellent interpersonal skills, being able to quickly build rapport with people both internally and externally while speaking to a wide and varying set of people each day.You will have a strong attention to detail – one day analysing a number of pitch decks and the next deeply analysing a new sector or emerging trend for the team.You will be comfortable with numbers, spreadsheets and data.Triple Point offers a wealth of benefits including a contributory pension, hybrid/flexible working and ongoing learning and development opportunities.
