We are seeking an experienced Childcare Lawyer to join our dynamic legal team in the local authority. This is a permanent position, offering a competitive salary of £55,000 per annum and the flexibility of hybrid working. Key Responsibilities: * Provide expert legal advice and representation in all aspects of childcare law, including care proceedings, adoption, and safeguarding matters. * Manage a caseload of complex childcare cases, ensuring timely and effective resolution. * Draft and prepare legal documents, including applications, orders, and care plans. * Represent the local authority in court, advocating for the best interests of children and families. * Collaborate closely with social workers, senior management, and other stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes. * Keep up-to-date with legislative changes and legal precedents affecting childcare law. * Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures within the department. Requirements: * Qualified solicitor or barrister with substantial experience in childcare law. * Strong understanding of public law and the legal framework governing child protection. * Excellent advocacy, negotiation, and communication skills. * Ability to manage a diverse and demanding caseload with minimal supervision. * Experience working within a local authority setting is desirable but not essential. * Commitment to delivering high-quality legal services and improving the lives of vulnerable children.
