Job Description: Senior Mechanical Design EngineerWorking Hours: Mon – FridaySalary: CompetitiveLocation: Winchester/HybridContract Type: Full Time / PermanentAbout the Job: We are looking for an ambitious Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our growing team. If you have a strong background in CAD programs such as SolidWorks, Inventor and AutoCAD and proven industry experience, an analytical approach to problem solving and an interest in combustion and emissions, please get in touch. You will work within a team to develop the product design details and use manufacturing knowledge to produce engineering drawings and information. You will also work with our supply chain to ensure it is delivered to cost, time and quality.Your skill, insight and ingenuity will directly shape RJM’s involvement in various projects resulting in improved operational efficiency and emissions reduction.Key ResponsibilitiesFollows/lead plans, and directions for the mechanical/technical design of products as well as cost and administrative requirementsPreparation of Key Component and Parts listsLead/assist in preparation of the manufacturing scheduleLiaises with selected contractors during product manufacturePrepares reports on manufacturing status and advises on the impact of changes or additional worksPrepares design calculations, sizing and selection of components ensuring compliance with contract requirementsInterfaces with the project team to coordinate all design detailsEnsures compliance to RJM’s QMS proceduresRecords engineering changes to the product, and communicates them to the supply chain as necessaryPrepares installation instructions for construction sub-contractors to erect supplied equipmentFrom time to time assist with hands on diagnostic testing, data collection onsiteLead/assist with design proposals, presentations for sales opportunitiesLead/assist with the post contract review processKnowledge, Skills and Educational Requirements If this role is of interest, but you do not meet all the criteria, please still get in contact. We would be interested to see what you can offer.Required:HNC, HND or Degree Standard in Mechanical, Structural or Production EngineeringPrior experience must include significant engineering to small and medium sized projects Demonstrated ability to understand the design process, schedules, and supply chain interfaceStrong computer skills including demonstrated experience in the use of AutoCAD and SolidWorks, Microsoft Word & Excel.Action-oriented engineer with demonstrated ability to accomplish objectivesStrong, organised skill set with demonstrated ability to manage detailsAbility to interface at all relevant levels within the RJM Organisation, with good communication skills capable of developing strong supply chain relationshipGood knowledge of Microsoft office and applications such as Word, Excel etcChartered Engineer status, or working towards Chartered EngineerAdvantageous:Technical knowledge, experience of structural steel, ducting, product design, welding, fabrication, castings and piping.Ability to use Inventor, laser scan, FEA toolsAdditional Language skillsFull UK Driving LicenseAmbitious and responsible with an appetite for self-developmentQA experienceBenefits: Subsidised private healthcare.Discretionary Bonus SchemePensionDeath in Service BenefitOpportunities for flexible workingContinuous development opportunitiesWhy work with RJM?
