Craftspeople (Wirepeople and Fitters)

  • Location: Edinburgh, Scotland
  • Rate: 28 - 32p/hour (LTD/Outside IR35)
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Duration: 6 months +

Turner Lovell's client is a successful electrical engineering company delivering electricity transmission and distribution projects across the UK and Europe. You will be working for a company who have invested heavily in both their staff as well as new technology in order to become one of the largest companies in the energy sector.
Turner Lovell is constantly looking for HV Wirepeople and Mechanical Fitters to work on renewable energy projects throughout the UK. Projects ranging from 2-6 months in duration and consist of electrical installation activities in the new build, extension to existing infrastructure and high voltage categories.

Wireman Duties:

  • Assembly and installation of electrical equipment on medium & high-voltage renewable energy projects
  • Cable glanding and terminating
  • Installation of control and protection relay panels
  • Understand red and green and line diagrams to then implement into scope of work
  • Install LV / HV switchgear, multi-core cables & associated electrical equipment
  • Attend toolbox talks, and actively contribute where required

Fitter Duties:

  • Installation of earthing systems
  • Erection of steelwork to pre-defined design
  • Measuring and installing busbar and clamps
  • Building and setting of disconnectors, installation of MV and power equipment (switchgear, CT's, VT's, LV)
  • Understand RAMS, SHEQ procedures and attend tool-box talks

Requirements:

  • Tickets required for the position: CCNSG/CSCS - Safety Passport, Manual Handling, Fire Safety, National Grid Authorisations
  • Further qualification (HNC, HND, Degree, apprenticeship, NVQ) - desirable
  • Experience working on a project in a H&S critical environment
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team
  • Willingness to learn, communicate and uphold SHEQ / other required standards, whilst on site
  • Knowledge as well as working experience of fitting regulations or wiring regulations
