School Caretaker

Are you an experienced school caretaker looking for a new and exciting opportunity in Birmingham? Twenty4Seven Education are assisting a secondary school in north Birmingham with the recruitment of a school caretaker. This is a permanent full-time position with the hours being 6am until 2pm and 10:30am until 6:30pm and will be worked on a rota basis. This is a fantastic opportunity if you have a background in building maintenance and looking to build on your experience. The role is to start as soon as possible. Applicants must have experience as a caretaker and have good DIY, maintenance and handy person skills Duties will include: * To accept Key Holder responsibilities and respond to call outs in conjunction with other members of the BSS team. * Deputise for BSS key holidays * Responsibility for security of the site, including the operation of burglar alarms and CCTV where appropriate. * Operation of the school’s heating plant * General porterage duties including movement of furniture and equipment within the school * Handyperson duties which may include minor repairs to furniture and fixtures and non specialist decorating tasks * Daily and periodic cleaning of designated areas of the school buildings and grounds according to schedule of work * Deputise for the BSS when required * Provide emergency cover. The post holder is expected to make reasonable effort to support the school by responding to unforeseen emergencies or delays in work to the site by contractors which necessitate extending a shift to allow work to be completed.
